Hi there, I'm Eva!

My name is Eva and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am a very interactive therapist. I like to get to know my clients so he/she can feel comfortable with me. I like to provide my client's a safe environment so that the client can feel comfortable building a rapport with me. I have worked with a variety of mental health issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, couples relationship issues, parent/child relationship problems, OCD, ADHD, postpartum depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

My approach

My approach is always going to be to start where the client is. I often take on the rational-emotive therapy style but have also used it in combination with cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and solution-focused therapy.

My focus

My client's are mostly high-functioning, short-term clients--clients who need that extra guidance and support. Again, I try to work with any client who comes across my path and will try to assist in any way I can. I, again have worked with but not limited to anxiety, depression, couples relationship issues, parent/child relationship problems, OCD, ADHD, postpartum depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

My communication style

I like to provide a safe environment for my clients. I have been told that I am very approachable and easy to talk to. I have been told that clients like that I provide a sense of ease/relatability when they are in session with me allowing the client to lower their guards/walls that are up. Along with providing a safe environment, I also do challenge my clients by assigning homework and following up the next week to hold them accountable. We work together to help figure out what is happening!

My journey to mental healthcare

My first thought of wanting to become a therapist was in high school. I had a friend who was often getting into trouble and he had a therapist who really was able to provide support and guidance. I wanted to become that person for people. I also have been through some traumatic events myself and really do understand that emotions need to be expressed and not held inside. Helping others and allowing people to feel safe is what continues to drive me to do the work I do.

My goals for you

I will first read through the initial assessment and gather additional information with the client. Then, in a more direct approach, I would ask the client's what they would like to work with. I will have the client prioritize goals. I would then assist in building an action plan to meet the goals that are being set--setting up objectives and timelines.

My first session with you

The first session will most likely be more of a gathering information type of session. I will ask questions to get to know the client and why he/she is seeking therapy. Additional questions could include how the client is currently coping and their symptoms. We may also review family history and support system; along with reviewing safety concerns. We may also engage in goals for therapy, expectations, and more. The client can expect to feel emotionally drained after their first session because it is a lot but hopefully, the client will also feel safe to allow the emotions to continue to be shared so the healing process can begin.
