My name is Grechell Siy, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California via telehealth. I primarily focused on working with individual adults struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, other relational trauma, grief, and chronic pain using a client-centered approach.
My approach
My therapy approach is to prioritize my clients' physical and emotional safety using a humanistic approach. I integrate different interventions according to my client's strengths and target issues as therapy progresses using CBT, DBT, ACT, compassion-focused therapy, and trauma-informed therapy.
My focus
I love working with individual adults who are ready to enrich their relationship with themselves due to the impact of relational or childhood trauma. As a relationship therapist, I learned that depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental health issues can affect creating a thriving relationship with ourselves, which causes a lot of self-deprecating thoughts or self-sabotaging behaviors.
My communication style
I like to create the environment of my sessions as humanistic. I want to see and make my clients feel I see them as a person who has battle scars, not broken. Aligning with my clients is important to me, I want to make them feel that I am human too and have compassion for their pain, not just a therapist/expert who can guide them.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started working in the field of psychology as a registered behavioral technician focusing on ABA therapy for neurodivergent population, then slowly followed my dream as a psychotherapist. I was always fascinated with understanding a person's mind and behaviors. I was also interested in learning about relationships, so I became a relationship therapist. What drives me to do this work is being able to help people create a closer and healthier relationship with themselves that creates an impact of change that allows them to thrive in a life according to how they want to live despite all the stress of trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.
My goals for you
Even though I love the processing approach of psychotherapy, goals are also important. I love working collaboratively with my clients and creating sustainable coping skills that work for them. Strengthening the rapport with my clients is crucial to achieve that collaborative work.
My first session with you
What you can expect during your first session with me is to provide a safe space for you to share your struggles. I will also ask questions about history, timelines, symptoms, relationships, and other systemic stressors affecting your daily functioning. I believe in looking at the person as a whole to understand you and better understand where we can start.
