Hi there, I'm Darcy!

Hello! My name is Darcy Jackson. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and a licensed professional clinical counselor. My approach to therapy is built on a foundation of compassion, humor, and a willingness to challenge and support my clients as they embark on their healing journey.

My approach

My approach to therapy is integrative and collaborative. I utilize different approaches depending on what is most appropriate for each client. I operate from an empathic, non-judgmental, and multicultural lens that focuses on inclusion. In session, I will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

My focus

I typically work with adults aged 18 and older, open to all genders, marital statuses, and cultural backgrounds. My clients normally choose to work with me because they struggling with grief and loss, anxiety, faith-based needs, infertility, and relational concerns.

My communication style

I create a warm and friendly environment. My tone will fluctuate through our time together, to fit the need of the session. I believe in a level of transparency and humor. In addition, I will challenge when appropriate which may be in a direct manner.

My journey to mental healthcare

Looking back, being a therapist was never my goal. In 2017 I was working in a county jail as an adult educator. It was there that my students told me, I wasn’t a great teacher, yet I cared too much about their mental health, and I should consider being a therapist. It was from interaction I applied to graduate school. My life has presented it with circumstances that required personal therapy. These experiences are directly connected to the conditions I treat. I enjoy those that are not sold on treatment or are first-time clients. I do this work because I value the opportunity to help you navigate your life’s circumstances.

My goals for you

Goal setting is a unique and collaborative approach individual for each client. It is imperative that you have buy-in to the goal, and believe that the goal is tangible and achievable.

My first session with you

During our first session, you can expect to spend a good deal of time discussing what brought you to therapy and me asking questions to better understand you as a whole person. The goal is to build rapport and trust and become comfortable with one another. Through this connection, you begin to deeply understand yourself by defining and refining your needs and how best to meet those needs.
