Hello, my name is Cheryl Davis. I’m a licensed psychologist in Los Angeles, CA. I have years of clinical experience providing outpatient services to a diverse population of adults dealing with personal, emotional, relational, and workplace issues.
My approach
My approach is a combination of cognitive-behavioral and client-centered approach. I tailor interventions to individual needs and foster and enhance therapeutic alliance between a client and myself.
My focus
I work with individuals seeking assistance with depression, anxiety, anger management, domestic violence (women, men, LGBTQ+) Transgender, trauma, life transitions (birth, divorce, death), grief, and bereavement.
My communication style
I work to create a safe and non-judgmental environment for a client to express themselves. Active listening is a key component of my communication style. I focus on the spoken word as well as what may not be directly said, I may ask clarifying questions to improve my understanding of the person and situation.
My journey to mental healthcare
I wanted to be a neurosurgeon, but science and mathematics were not my strengths. However, I like helping people and appreciate hearing about their journey.
My goals for you
Goal setting with clients is a crucial aspect of the therapeutic process. A thorough assessment is necessary to understand the client’s current situation, concerns, values, strengths, and resources. Client and therapist collaborate to set realistic and meaningful goals. Adjustments and tweaks of goals along the process provide client growth opportunities, skill-building, and empowerment.
My first session with you
Upon introduction, a client can expect a welcoming and confidential environment to discuss the reasons for seeking therapy, some personal history, and concerns. I will provide information about the therapeutic process, confidentiality, and informed consent, and answer any questions they may have.
