My name is Maria Becerra but I go by my middle name Terry. I am a licensed clinical social worker in California and have been doing social work for over 8 years. I enjoy my job very much and love to help my patients get through various stages of life events. I look forward to meeting a wide variety of people with complex and not-so-complex issues
My approach
I use motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, compassion therapy, and psychoeducation on the cycle of domestic violence as well as career counseling.
My focus
My focus is not on one particular type of client as I have worked with a wide range of clients from all walks of life, many cultures, and different points of view.
My communication style
I like to create a very calm, friendly, compassionate, and safe space for my patients to be able to express their true thoughts feelings, and emotions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I have always enjoyed helping people and saw a need for mental health clinicians who are culturally competent and open to various walks of life.
