Hi there, I'm Amy!

Hi, I'm Amy Nistor, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who sees my role as someone who comes alongside to offer support and guidance as the client finds and owns their own individual path on their healing journey. My focus of practice is on helping those who have been psychologically, emotionally, and sexually abused or neglected. I help clients find how to find their own inner autonomy and sense of well-being that will give them the confidence to live their lives on their terms and find healthy ways of coping and communicating with themselves and in relationships with others.

My approach

I believe that healing occurs when a safe relationship is formed with someone who can lead you to the vulnerable places of the heart. It is there that healing happens and hope and purpose begin to blossom. My heart is to see brokenness, and pain transformed into a new life of healing, joy, and healthy relationships. I am a trauma-focused therapist who uses a client, heart-centered approach that incorporates psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, family systems, and interpersonal therapies while infusing strength-based, somatic, and mindfulness practices.

My focus

My experience extends to working in elementary schools, counseling agencies, ministries, and residential programs and I currently own my own private practice. I have assisted many in addressing life-controlling issues, emotional distress, sexual abuse, dissociative disorders, and those with complex trauma histories. My work has given me a heart for the wounded child that lives in many of us, even as adults.

My communication style

I desire a safe place for others to find hope, healing, and transformation. I am a nurturer at heart and love to help those who are deeply wounded. I am known for my authenticity, sensitivity, and insight. I am intuitive and gifted in listening, meeting clients where they are, and lovingly directing people to the root issues they are avoiding so that they can face them with curiosity and compassion to find healing and restoration.

My journey to mental healthcare

A safe and nurturing place, where they will feel listened to and attended to with love and compassion.

My goals for you

I am a nurturer at heart and love to help those who are deeply wounded. Since a child, I have always had a heart to help those who are hurting and offer a safe place for them to feel held and cared for with respect and unconditional love.

My first session with you

I let clients set their own goals. I will aid the client in determining goals if goals are not clear. Usually, as therapy unfolds, goals begin to shift and become more focused as clients see more clearly their issues and those they want to tackle.
