I am Chloe Lucas, LMFT. I've been a therapist for just under 10 years now. My personality has been described as direct, curious, and grounding. My practice focuses on trauma work, teens, adult individuals, and parenting. My training is rooted in spirituality as an important part of the whole self. I see therapy as an important tool for existential growth. Our culture doesn't make enough space for emotional expression and introspection. Therapy is a unique relationship that allows for the practice of emotional intimacy such that we may become more attuned and connected to ourselves and others.
My approach
I use Motivational Interviewing almost always to start and incorporate my other specialties depending on the client's need. I offer EMDR, DBT skills training, TFCBT for traumatized children and Ketamine assistedKetamine-assisted psychotherapy and integration for eligible clients.
My focus
I can work with all types of people, but my practice has allowed me to specialize in the following areas: Trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, anger issues, identity development, insomnia, dissociation, child behavior problems, parenting problems
My communication style
I am often direct. I am a very curious person and love building relationships. I have been told I have a grounding presence which has been useful in helping folks stay regulated through crisis and process heavy emotions. Sometimes I can come across as rigid, but my openness to learn and grow means I welcome feedback and appreciate clients willing to collaborate on the treatment journey.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always had a genuine curiosity for people's stories. People have always opened up to me even in my youth. I've become passionate about resilience and protective factors in childhood trauma as well as healing from generational and cultural/ancestral trauma.
My goals for you
The client decides what they want to work on. I can translate that into insurance jargon, but I rarely generate a goal that doesn't use some of the client's own words.
My first session with you
I hope my clients will feel heard, affirmed, and respected. The first session is both a formal diagnostic assessment and a casual "getting to know you" conversation. Sometimes assessments can be overwhelming because of the number of questions. I hope that clients experience the first session as helpful, professional, and personable.
