Hi there, I'm Signe!

You are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and be the best version of yourself. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to resolve hindrances that challenge in your life may have caused.

My approach

I conceptualize most problems and obstacles from a cognitive behavioral approach. Our thoughts impact how we feel, which in turn affects how we behave and respond. Looking at those thoughts more closely and unpacking if they are true or not, can bring a lot of freedom and joy.

My focus

I enjoy working with teenagers, young and mid-age adults, alike, males and females. I have many years of experience working with adults dealing with depressive and/or anxious symptoms, stress, relationship problems, and phase of life transitions.

My communication style

Depending on what my clients' needs are, I communicate with questions prompting them to consider ideas that they may not have thought about before, or sometimes more direct statements and ideas that my client needs to hear. Previous clients have reported my communication style as kind and gentle, however, I also will be direct and solution-focused, when needed.

My journey to mental healthcare

I went into therapy because I enjoy helping people. When someone seeks out counseling, they are usually struggling and in one of the worst seasons of their life. I enjoy being someone that can shine a light on that dark season for people, and be a lighthouse for those, so they can walk themselves out of what is causing the problem and/or hindering them from thriving.

My goals for you

I work collaboratively with my clients to create treatment goals and revisit these goals regularly to make sure the use of our time is productive and going in that agreed-upon direction.

My first session with you

The first session is a packed one, we usually begin by going through the expectations of talk therapy, the presenting problem that is bringing the client in, reviewing limits of confidentiality, informed consent, and any questions the client has. I also enjoy going over the clients' current and family of origin dynamics, educational, and work history, and reviewing any current symptoms that they are having. I like to conclude the session by establishing treatment goals together.
