Hello, my name is Nancy Rarick, license number is 35274. I have been a licensed therapist for > 30 years. I prefer client-centered therapy but utilize many other modalities which benefit my client the most. Currently, I only have a telemedicine practice which enables me to see clients throughout California.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of my client. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, focused solution therapy, and am trained in EMDR and DBT. Because I am a registered nurse, I am passionate about health and wellness and feel physical well-being is synergistic with good mental health.
My focus
I have treated all conditions through the years, including depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, and many psychiatric disorders. I especially enjoy helping clients move from "stuck" places in their lives to new happy place.
My communication style
My environment is calm, pleasant, and safe, only utilizing a Hippa-compliant video conferencing sight. Initially connecting with my client is the most important for them to feel comfortable and ready to start therapy.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was an ER, and ICU nurse when a physician asked me to go into partnership with him for medical weight management. It wasn't long before I discovered there was a huge psychological component to weight management, so enrolled in a counseling program. I switched to psychiatric nursing following graduation, then combined both acute psych with counseling. I found I love helping clients meet their goals and share their lives.
My goals for you
Goal setting begins first by identifying the present issue that the client wants to work on. From there we together build stepping stones toward that goal.
My first session with you
There are logistical things that need to be addressed like "Consent to Treat", length of session times, and processes of therapy. After that, it is time to get to know one another and to determine if we are a good fit to proceed with therapy together.
