Hello, I'm Heidi Dryer, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2015. I'm passionate about helping individuals from all walks of life navigate life's challenges and find greater well-being. With a Master's in Counseling from Argosy University, I bring a compassionate and holistic approach to the therapeutic journey.
My approach
I believe therapy is a collaborative process where I provide support and guidance in a judgment-free environment. My approach draws from various modalities, including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and mindfulness techniques. I tailor treatment to each individual's unique strengths and growth potential, exploring the mind-body-soul connection.
My focus
I specialize in helping individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I also have experience working with the LGBTQ community, older adults, and those dealing with chronic pain or illness. Whether you're seeking to improve your relationship with others or with yourself, I'm here to support you.
My communication style
The foundation of effective therapy is an empathetic, genuine therapeutic relationship. I prioritize being fully present and deeply listening to understand your world. Through our work together, I'll provide ideas and tools to help you gain insight, shift perspectives, build coping skills, and make meaningful changes to live a happier, healthier life.
My journey to mental healthcare
My path to becoming a therapist grew from my diverse life and work experiences, including time as a flight attendant, which shaped my view that we are all travelers on the journey of life. I realized the importance of an empathetic ear and how transformative therapy can be. This motivated me to pursue my degree in counseling to help others navigate their unique journeys.
My goals for you
My goal is to empower you with greater self-understanding and the tools to enact positive change as you move through life's ups and downs. I aim to help lighten your load, working through the past to improve the present and build a brighter future. With commitment and courage, I believe you can lead a more authentic, fulfilling life. I'm honored to embark on this journey with you.
My first session with you
In our first session, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy and begin to build our therapeutic relationship. I'll learn about your background, current challenges, and hopes for our work together. We'll collaboratively explore your goals and create a plan that aligns with your needs and strengths. You can expect me to be warm, curious, and engaged as we lay the foundation for our therapeutic journey.
