Hi there, I'm Linda!

Hi, I'm Linda Huey. I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California. I work as an interpersonal and client-centered therapist. I treat my clients like you are the most important person in the room and help you create a space to better understand yourself and improve your life.

My approach

I'm a big believer in the idea that it's the relationship with your therapist that heals whatever is bothering you. I practice empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard. More on that later. Walking the walk instead of just talking the talk is what I try to do every day with my clients. I help you get to the essence of things and "keep it real." I also practice family systems theory with individuals. The people who have affected your psychological and emotional development don't even need to be in the room.

My focus

As a queer Latina in recovery, I have a long history of working with marginalized communities such as LGBTQ+ people of color, working-class folk, and substance abuse. I don't limit myself to these populations because anyone who is brave enough to ask for help is a star in my book. I just know that representation matters.

My communication style

I work to create a safe environment with zero shame or judgment. I also am a big believer in laughter being the best medicine. We'll keep it 💯 while having fun and building agency and strength within you.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have always gravitated toward helping adolescents in high school. I decided to become a high school counselor and from there discovered therapy. I had an amazing first clinical supervisor who taught me how powerful a healthy and professional relationship can heal hearts and minds. I then decided to pursue my Marriage and Family Therapy as well as school (K-12) and college counseling specializations. I was lucky to find my passion early in life and have never looked back. The rest is history. The more I learn about and help people, the better I feel in contributing to the stream of life. I just love helping people become the best version of themselves like therapists have done for me.

My goals for you

I do not tell you what you need to work on. I work with you to uncover and discover the goals that are aligned with your core values & principles. We have all the answers within us, we just need help removing the blocks and creating the vision you want for your life. I will naturally have suggestions based on my education and 25 years of clinical experience, of course!

My first session with you

First session is mostly like a meet & greet. I make sure that you and everyone around you are safe. It then asks lots of questions to get and give you an idea as to the severity of your symptoms. Then I will lay out an idea of what our work together can look like. I try to keep things warm, personable, and simple.
