Mark Waller, PH.D. LMFT licensed for 24 years. My approach is cognitive and based on the latest brain research. We explore the voice in your head and how that triggers emotional responses that affect relationships, anxiety, depression, and stress. This is an approach that gets right to the core issues starting in the first session.
My approach
I will teach you how your brain works to create problems based on early childhood learning, emotional reactions, and perception. Then I will give you a concrete tool to get you out of your head and into the life you should be living. My approach emphasizes understanding, self-awareness, and transformation.
My focus
I typically work with adults; individuals and couples. Relationship dynamics, stress, anxiety and depression.
My communication style
My style is direct, clear, and goal-directed. No problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it. So we will not endlessly explore drama, reopen old wounds, or do anything awkward or uncomfortable. The road map will make total sense.
My journey to mental healthcare
Many years ago, at midlife, I had what can only be called an awakening experience after a long dark night of the soul. This led me to understand my true passion for growth work and to share my awakening with others. On to graduate school, years of research, and the constant refining of my new insight through working with countless clients.
My goals for you
The goals are set up front. The expected results are clear. Each session is designed to create measurable progress.
My first session with you
The first session will be an assessment of the problem, its history, and all of the pertinent facts and feelings that are part of the life struggles that accompany it. But before the first session is over we will begin that actual work.
