Hello, my name is Shaun Goff, LMFT. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral and Existential therapy modalities to help my clients find realistic ways to achieve their goals while furthering their understanding of what they value most and how that motivates them. I specialize in treating adults, youth (10-17), and families.
My approach
Existential Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
My focus
I have experience working with youth, adults, and the older adult population. With over 15 years of experience in the field, I have had the opportunity to gain expertise in treating persons with depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, and psychosis.
My communication style
I like to meet my Clients where they are; you set the tone of what you are ready for and what steps you are willing to take to achieve your goals while exploring what might be hindering you from getting there.
My journey to mental healthcare
In a nutshell, I knew I wanted to be in a helping profession after reading Viktor Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning” at the age of 14, though my journey to becoming a therapist followed a somewhat scenic route. On my way to earning a master's of Divinity for the purpose of becoming a Chaplain for the US Navy, I realized that I loved helping people through counseling and decided to change my educational and career trajectory almost immediately, never looking back. I genuinely enjoy seeing people use their own innate ability to problem solve while acting as a guide to help them best utilize these skills.
My goals for you
I will work on setting goals with you from day 1, by asking you what your goals are so that we can revisit those goals and determine progress made in each session.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will discuss your reason for wanting to see a therapist, discuss your goals for therapy, and discuss your questions or concerns as it relates to the therapeutic process.
