I live in Northern California and provide psychotherapy to individuals and couples 18 years older. I use a trauma-informed, bio-psychosocial, collaborative approach with my clients. Our work will use integrated methods focusing on the mind and body connection. I've worked in a variety of settings, from school-and-home-based therapy to psychiatric outpatient facilities. For the last 5 years, I've worked as part of an integrated primary care team at a large healthcare facility addressing chronic disease management, treating psychological trauma, weight loss issues, and mind-body medicine.
My approach
I use EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Brainspotting, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and attachment-based psychotherapy and will be starting somatic experience training in Sept 2022.
My focus
I appreciate working with clients who are ready for change. I understand that change can be challenging and requires a commitment from both myself and my client(s). I can be very flexible with my client(s) regarding scheduling and length of visits. I appreciate feedback from those I work with in order to tailor care appropriately.
My communication style
I am compassionate, empathic, and strength-based. I feel providing psycho-education on how our minds and bodies work Is essential to learning about ourselves and the challenges that bring people to therapy.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12. My adolescent years of coping with this illness introduced me to my first therapist. She helped change my life and steered me in the direction of becoming an LMFT. Through the years, I noticed how early childhood relationships and traumatic events in people's lives had shaped the way they interact in the world. I am certified in EMDR, a trauma-based treatment modality, to assist people with past integrated challenges that might be impacting their future. I am certified in integrative medicine for mental health professionals and will be certified in Somatic Experience Therapy in December 2022, being trained in Brainspotting and Trauma-Focused CBT.
My goals for you
Success Is different for each person. My client(s) has the ability to develop their own treatment plan and has personal agency to determine what Is best for them. I will do my best to assist my client(s) reach their goals.
My first session with you
The first session will be a history taking and developing a treatment plan. In addition, It gives the client and me an opportunity to see if we will be a good fit for each other.
