Aleena Commandeur is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing individual psychotherapy. I have expertise in treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, anger management, chronic pain, self-esteem issues, and helping with communication skills. I also have extensive experience working with all age groups and the LGBTQ community.
My approach
I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I consider the quality and nature of our therapeutic alliance to be one of the most important aspects of our work together. Through motivational interviewing and by using the strengths perspectives model, I guide patients in establishing new perspectives, improving self-awareness, and utilizing personal strengths to create more meaningful life experiences. I tailor my approach by using various therapeutic modalities specifically designed for each client, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eclectic, Solution-Focused, Strength-Based, and Humanistic approaches.
My focus
I am willing to see individuals and specialize in treating ADHD, Anger Management, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Chronic Pain, Depression, LGBTQIA+ issues, Stress, and Suicidal Ideation.
My communication style
I am committed to creating a safe space to process feelings without judgment. I believe in the dignity and worth of every person and strive to create an accepting, non-judgmental environment in our therapy sessions.
My goals for you
My goal is to help you gain new perspectives, increase your self-awareness, build on your personal strengths, and ultimately live a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I will work collaboratively with you to tailor my therapeutic approach to your unique needs and goals.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I will ask questions to better understand your background, current challenges, and strengths. We will also discuss my approach and how we can best work together. My aim is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer sense of the path forward.
