My name is Robert O. Nwanganga and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My approach to therapy is to better help you understand yourself by trying to understand why you do the things you do.
My approach
I tend to utilize CBT and Emotion-focused therapy. I believe that if you understand what makes you do the things you do and what emotion is impacting your behavior, then you will feel less out of control.
My focus
I work well with adults who are dealing with career, family, spiritual, life transition, and cultural issues.
My communication style
I utilize a more collaborative approach to therapy. We will work together on what you consider important.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always loved working with people. My first job was working in Children's Services. I then worked briefly in Foster Care, then decided to get my Master's. I then worked with children on an outpatient basis before spending 8 years in two inpatient facilities. The above set of experiences brought me here. I realized that I loved working with people, but I want to work with them on a long-term basis. I could not get that working in inpatient facilities or Children's Services. I opted for psychotherapy.
My goals for you
Goal setting is a collaborative experience. We set the goal and work on the goal together.
My first session with you
A relaxed environment. Questions answered and a clear plan as to where we go from here.
