My name is Sharon Hunsaker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am currently in private practice and have been in the mental health field for over 25 years. I am a very compassionate and experienced therapist who uses a variety of techniques and interventions. I believe that to understand a client is to understand their needs in every area of their life and to assist with healing, growth, and ultimate change.
My approach
What I have learned is that every client is unique and therefore treatment should be catered to their specific needs. Personalized interventions, by assessing the client accurately and fully, spending time connecting and building trust and rapport, is vital for positive treatment outcomes. In addition, I focus on problem solving with a cognitive behavioral approach. Clients need to understand their specific issues, how they think about it and react to it and successfully address and work toward resolving them.
My focus
The population I work with is adults, young adults and couples. Individual and family treatment.
My communication style
In the beginning of treatment I focus on building trust and rapport with my clients. I like an atmosphere of compassion and acceptance, giving client a safe place to disclose, process and explore.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have a compassion toward others which began early on in my life. I like to assist with healing and hope, and that has been a strong motivator. I have found that my work as a therapist has been rewarding and has been reinforced by the healing and positive change of my cliental.
My goals for you
