My name is Ashley Richter and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in the Los Angeles, CA area and working with clients statewide via telehealth. The primary thing I want you to know is it's okay to not be okay. My goal is to create, safe, open, inviting spaces that promote open communication and trust to help you become the best version of yourself. I believe that we all have the tools within us to create the life we want to live. Each day is a chance to become the person you want to be.
My approach
I utilize a humanistic, mindful, strengths-based, relational approach to create safe, inviting, and open therapeutic spaces that promote communication and trust to further enhance your therapeutic experience and personal growth. My background includes school based counseling and both inpatient and out-patient individual and family therapy working through a variety of presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse disorders, family and relational issues, self esteem issues, disordered eating, mood disorders, suicidal ideation and personality disorders. I am also well versed in group therapy, including process groups and groups with the UCLA PEERs Clinic, where i led evidence-based, relational skills groups for teens with social challenges.
My focus
I am passionate about working with all different types of individuals (children, adolescents, adults) and families with a wide variety of disorders, issues, and specialties. I believe that we all have the tools within us to create the life we want to live. In therapy, we will uncover these tools and connect with our inner selves to work through issues that you are facing, to create positive changes, and re/build relationships. People understand why they need a cast for a broken bone or stitches for a cut, however, when they are suffering from depression, anxiety, insecurities, boundary setting, fears, grief, relationship problems, etc. it can be isolating at times and very difficult to seek help. The primary thing I want you to know is that it is okay to not be okay.
My communication style
I believe each individual has their own unique story to tell and that they are the expert of their lives and I will work with you at your own pace. I believe I offer a warm and compassionate, yet direct approach.
