Kristen Silva, LMFT #146499, I enjoy working with a variety of different clients. My approach to therapy is utilizing a mix of solution focus (focusing on strengths and the future), CBT (focusing primarily on negative core beliefs and thoughts), and mindfulness practices. I tend to work with clients that deal with anxiety, depression, and/or trauma. Mental health can impact a variety of different areas of your life, such as your relationships with others and yourself, and I want to be able to help you navigate through the uncomfortableness so that you can work towards having a more thriving life.
My approach
Solution Focus, CBT, Mindfulness
My focus
I work with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, daily life stressors, and clients with relationship problems.
My communication style
I have a very warm, welcoming tone and environment that I offer clients to feel comfortable with being vulnerable. I do model and hold healthy boundaries with clients and offer the space to talk things out in the event my boundaries bring up a cognitive distortion (an automatic negative thought that can be triggered by past experiences) for my client.
My journey to mental healthcare
We all have a story- the struggles, the successes, and everything in between and I’m no different. I’ve had my struggles in my life and had my own therapy that helped me tremendously. I have loved the field of psychology and helping people and through my own lived experiences and personal therapy experiences, I wanted to become a therapist. I’ve been a therapist for 6 years and have continued to enjoy what I do and continue to learn within the field to best help my clients.
My goals for you
The goal is what the client wants to work on, and what they are ready for, and my goal is to keep the client directed on that goal to best help them reach their desired goal.
My first session with you
First session is to really get to know the client, what they want out of therapy, past coping, who their support people are, and their expectations for therapy.
