Hi there, I’m Kiran! My name is Kiran Singh. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with extensive experience in addressing trauma, domestic violence, and various mental health challenges. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families to foster healing and personal growth. Outside of my professional practice, I enjoy hiking, gardening, cooking, recycling, and practicing meditation.
My approach
My holistic, client-centered approach to therapy emphasizes understanding and addressing each individual's unique needs and experiences. By fostering a strong therapeutic alliance, I create a safe environment that encourages exploration and personal growth. As a Gottman therapist and trauma-focused therapist, I integrate evidence-based techniques to strengthen relationships and help individuals heal from trauma, promoting overall well-being and resilience.
My focus
I work primarily with adolescents, young adults, adults, and the elderly. My focus is on providing support for individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, cultural challenges, and the transition to various life stages. I also specialize in helping clients navigate issues related to identity, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships. As a Level 2 trained Gottman therapist, I have extensive experience working with relationship issues. Additionally, I have training and experience working with sexual assault, domestic violence, eating disorders, and school challenges. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and work towards personal growth and resilience.
My communication style
My communication style is centered around empathy, active listening, and genuine understanding. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and valued. By using open-ended questions and reflective listening, I encourage clients to express their thoughts and feelings freely. I aim to validate their experiences and provide support that respects their unique perspectives and needs. My approach is collaborative, focusing on building a strong therapeutic relationship and empowering clients to take an active role in their healing and personal growth.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist began with a deep curiosity about the human mind and a strong desire to help others. Drawn to psychology and the complexities of human behavior, I pursued a master's degree in psychology, gaining foundational knowledge and skills. Throughout my studies, I volunteered and worked in various settings, including schools, community centers, and nonprofits, gaining diverse experiences and a profound understanding of the challenges people face. These experiences solidified my passion for mental health and reinforced my commitment to making a positive impact. My interest deepened, leading me to earn a master's in counseling psychology to assist people on their journey from suffering to thriving. My journey as a therapist has been guided by a holistic and client-centered approach, with each step reinforcing my dedication to the field and my belief in the transformative power of therapy.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is collaborative and client-centered, ensuring that their goals align with their values and personal aspirations. The therapeutic journey typically begins with initial exploration, joining, and assessment. We then identify treatment goals using the SMART criteria (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound). Throughout the process, I assist in empowering and supporting clients through the 5A's journey: Acknowledging, Awareness, Accepting, Actions, and Accomplishments. Reflection and growth are integral to this process, helping clients review their experiences, understand their progress, and foster self-awareness, which supports their overall growth.
My first session with you
The first session focuses on joining and assessment, beginning with a warm welcome and introduction. The therapist will explain confidentiality and provide a brief overview of the therapeutic process. The session includes exploring the client’s reasons for seeking therapy, their goals, what they hope to achieve, and conducting initial assessments. This helps establish a clear understanding of the client’s needs and expectations and sets the stage for future goal-setting. The therapist will also answer any questions the client may have and discuss the next steps. Overall, the first session aims to build rapport, understand the client’s needs, and establish a framework for the therapeutic relationship.
