I am Dr. Ann Susan Murphy, PsyD; I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, have an MFT license, and an MS in Sec. Ed, an MA in Counseling Psyc and a BS in Fash. Merch/Social Sciences. I can see the potential for true health in every individual and am positive and excited about each client I see. I believe in the power of the mind.
My approach
I prefer Psychodynamic Therapy, as this gets quickly to the underlying cause, the real issue (s) blocking us from living to our full potential. Everyone needs to briefly uncover perceptions from the past and recognize how these perceptions can block us from living a balanced life in the present.
My focus
I am comfortable with all clients and all dysfunctions and traits. I have been a Psychologist for over 25 years and discovered that this is my true calling, gift, and passion. I love people. I love the way they think and see the world.
My communication style
My clients set the tone/environment in the session. Everyone is different and unique; I follow their lead. I hope my clients are comfortable and feel free to say anything in the session. They are not judged.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been led to the power of the mind and the cause/effect of family and other relationships on our mental health. I see the potential in every human being. I also see the need for us all to deal with our past discomforts and dysfunctions. This is my third major career and my favorite. My love and hope in people is my drive.
My goals for you
This is a difficult question, as every client is unique. Every "goal" with a client is based on what they want and need, not on a theory. Goals can be predetermined by the client or simply evolve during therapy.
My first session with you
Hopefully a comfortable, positive, and enjoyable encounter. They should be eager to meet again for more exchange; if not, they should go on to another therapist.
