Hello. My name is Kim Lloyd, and I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California. I enjoy counseling all individuals and feel especially called to work with women walking through seasons of depression, anxiety, loss, anger, marriage, and family problems.
My approach
I am passionate about getting to know my clients, especially amid pain, and walking with you as you work toward a better understanding of your story. My approach is being in the exact moment you are in, providing tools to help you while I gently challenge you to face scary emotions. My preferred modalities are CBT and Mindfulness.
My focus
I enjoy counseling all individuals and feel especially called to work with women walking through seasons of depression, anxiety, loss, anger, marriage, and family problems.
My communication style
I aim to treat every client with genuine positive regard, presenting with a pleasant voice. I also use humor in the session, when appropriate, to remind the client that even in therapy, laughing is appropriate in the right context.
My journey to mental healthcare
Being a psychotherapist is a second career for me. After being married for six years, finding out that I could not have children, having had several disappointing doctor's visits, and a very emotionally painful failed adoption process, I returned to school to become a therapist because my goal is to help others not walk alone through their most difficult seasons in life.
My goals for you
It is imperative that the client be an active member in goal setting. After reviewing presenting problem(s), I will present potential goals and discuss/determine the best goal for the client that will meet his or her needs.
My first session with you
Our first session will be reviewing confidentiality, expectations of our time together in therapy, answering any questions regarding my professional background, asking the client about presenting concerns, and building rapport to establish a safe environment.
