Hello, My name is Sandra, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I like to work with clients on uncovering the roots of their presenting problems and help my clients find new ways of healing so that they can live a more fulfilling life.
My approach
I incorporate a psychodynamic, family systems, and cognitive behavioral therapeutic approach. I believe that our past has an influence on who we are today, and faulty thinking or attachment styles that stemmed from our past can share insight into the problems we have in the present.
My focus
I enjoy working with adult women between the ages of 25-55. I have experience working with several mental health disorders, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, PTSD, and adjustment disorders. I have worked with clients on childhood traumas, sexual abuse, school issues, family issues, relationship issues, divorce, work stress, and life-stage stressors.
My communication style
I am very direct but compassionate with clients. I believe that it is important to establish safe and healthy environments for clients. I also believe that it is important to have healthy and honest therapeutic relationships.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became interested in the field of mental health during my high school years. During high school, I took classes related to counseling, and I fell in love with the field. I love the work that I do, and I enjoy facilitating a space for clients to make positive changes for themselves.
My goals for you
I believe that it is important to create goals with clients. Clients must have a say in the goals that they are working on.
My first session with you
During the first session, I will inquire about your current situation and your background. I will ask about what brings you to treatment and what your expectation is. I will also provide a little information on me and how I practice.
