My name is Darrin Erb, MSC/LMFT-S, but I go by Darrin. I am a therapist, a college professor, an executive director, a SPED/Educational Specialist certified in ASD, and a pastor, but my greatest titles are that of husband and father. In the world of therapy, there are therapists like doctors and those who are more like surgeons. I am a therapeutic surgeon, meaning that we will go straight toward the dysfunction and replace it with something that works for you.
My approach
Therapy has to be customized to the needs of the client. I have many tools in the toolbox but YOU are the one who has to learn the tools that are right for you. Together, we explore a variety of therapeutic interventions so you can learn the dysfunction, the tools to avoid that which is causing you distress, and how to become the best version of YOU possible.
My focus
After almost 30 years in the therapeutic world, I have worked with many different clients to alleviate the pain and suffering life has caused them. My typical client is one who has not found understanding with other therapists and is in need of someone who can get to the root of the problems and dysfunctions no matter how painful the process may be.
My communication style
I am a challenging therapist, meaning that I want to truly understand what you have to communicate rather than just accepting the words or expressions at face value. I hold up a mirror to reflect the person you are so that you can see what others may see in you, and ultimately, what you see within yourself.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist to bring hope and healing to those who were not finding it elsewhere. My job as a pastor, and more decidedly as a Christian, is to speak Truth no matter how difficult the Truth may be to hear. I believe there is always an answer; there is always healing to be found. My heart hurts for those who are hurting, and I want to help bring peace to those who suffer regardless of their own personal beliefs.
My goals for you
This is your journey. You set the goals based on what you hope to accomplish throughout the journey. This is neither a pass nor fail situation. This is about bringing out the best version of yourself possible. Much like climbing a mountain, you will know the therapy is working when you can see the world from a different view.
My first session with you
The first session is all about emotionally purging the pain and suffering you have been experiencing. It is all about letting it all out so we can determine the depth of the dysfunction before determining where we go from there.
