Hello, my name is Lori Davis. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in psychotherapy with a specialty in geriatrics. I feel it is an honor to assist clients as a supportive, collaborative, and empathetic facilitator in mental health, emotional well-being, and developing resilience.
My approach
My therapeutic practice is client-centered therefore I use multiple forms of evidence-based therapy best suited to individual clients. Therapies most often initiated are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT).
My focus
I typically work with adults, seniors, and couples dealing with depression, anxiety, life transitions, health, grief, loss, and parenting issues.
My communication style
It is important to me that my clients feel safe, no judgment, and my unconditional positive regard in sessions.
My journey to mental healthcare
After raising a family and becoming an art teacher, I was given an opportunity to move across the country to take a job as a care manager. I am passionate about service and this profession seemed like a good fit. My work in care management led me to receive two Master's degrees from California State University Fullerton; one in Gerontology (MSG) and one in Social Work (MSW). However, coming from a family of mental health professionals and seeing firsthand the opportunity this field provides to help others I made it a goal to become a therapist. My MSW led me to additional training in mental health to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been a therapist for close to 10 years spending some of that time working in a mental health clinic and the rest for a doctor’s group as a mental health provider.
My goals for you
I support and collaborate with clients in developing treatment plans, setting short and long-term goals, which hopefully inspire client confidence and empowerment.
My first session with you
The first therapy session will focus on getting to know client, building rapport, understanding client’s goals with therapy, gathering information, and developing a treatment plan.
