My name is Timothy Koford, LMFT. In therapy, my focus is on strengthening communication and developing healthy coping skills to manage addictive behaviors.
My approach
The most common theoretical approaches I use are solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy.
My focus
For the past 14 years, I have been working with couples and individuals who are struggling with pornography addiction and infidelity. I have been training through CSAT. I have worked with both teenagers and adults (Men and Women) with sexual addictions.
My communication style
In therapy, I strive to create an environment of calm and understanding. I know that the subject matter I work with brings with it guilt and shame. My approach is to be nonjudgmental and empathetic to help clients feel comfortable with sharing the hard feelings they may be bearing.
My journey to mental healthcare
I wanted to be a therapist since I was a teenager. I enjoy helping people find and use the tools necessary to strengthen their personal relationships. I believe that everyone wants to have a healthy relationship with their spouses, partners, and other family members. Helping strengthen relationships is my motivation to be a therapist.
My goals for you
I like to focus on what the client wants to gain by attending therapy. This is done in the first session as a way to set a foundation for the following sessions.
My first session with you
During the first session consists of me assessing the reasons why the client is seeking therapy and establishing a treatment plan.
