Hi, My name is Patricia Guerrero and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working in private practice with Individuals, families, and children since 2008. I specialize in depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and brain injury.
My approach
My approach to providing therapy is gathering a detailed history and creating a plan with each client that meets the needs as well as offering strategies to develop and meet long and short-term goals. A variety of theories are used with a strong Cognitive/Behavioral base.
My focus
My focus is meeting clients where they are and introducing new ideas and treatments to reach their desired outcomes. I have worked with all ages in my career and have a background in working with disabled, incarcerated, chronically ill, and TBI clients. This would include, but is not limited to depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and straightforward and I help my clients to feel supported and heard without judgment. I create a safe and comforting environment to assist in acceptance and growth.
My journey to mental healthcare
My first memory of wanting to become a therapist was during a psychology class in high school. I couldn’t imagine a better career than helping others get through some of their most difficult times in life or helping someone heal or cope with a traumatic event.
My goals for you
I work with my client to set goals and offer suggestions based on information gathered and history.
My first session with you
The first session would be spending time discussing what it is you would like to work on, any issues that need immediate attention, and your expectations of therapy. I would encourage you to ask any questions you have, and I would share my background and training to see if I am the best fit for you. The client feeling comfortable with me is crucial.
