Hello! I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in the Bay Area of California. I see clients both in person in San Francisco and virtually throughout the state. I enjoy working with people of all ages and believe in the power of the therapist-client relationship. Once a connection, rapport, and trust are established, I believe the work can begin.
My approach
I believe strongly in the following types of therapy modalities: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Relational, and Motivational Interviewing. I believe that the power of therapy is in the human connection between therapist and client. I will show up for you as an empathic person.
My focus
I love working with adolescents and adults who are seeking to learn about themselves, improve their self-image, and grow relationships both with themselves and others. I find that clients who put in work outside of the therapy session are the most successful. I have the most experience in treating trauma of all types, Depression and other mood disorders, and Anxiety.
My communication style
I prefer a casual environment where clients can feel comfortable showing up as themselves. I have heard from other clients that they feel safe to make some tea, take their shoes off, and be authentic.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist after a long career as a chef. I lost my brother to suicide in 2004 and found that getting involved in the cause helped me see some life again and supported my healing. One opportunity led to another and I discovered a deep passion for therapy, facilitating trainings about suicide prevention, and advocacy. And here I am! This work is deeply meaningful to me
My first session with you
In our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other, identifying what brings you to therapy, your overarching goals and strengths.
