Hello, my name is Marie-Christine Greene. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Southern California. My focus is to help my clients get through life struggles, stressors, or trauma, by providing a safe, judgment-free, and relaxing environment where together we can work on identifying root causes and develop a treatment plan. I believe in working collaboratively and building on clients' strengths.
My approach
I implement Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Theory ( CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), strategies but mostly encourage clients to actively participate in setting goals and build on their strengths to make the desired changes to live their best life.
My focus
I provide services to individuals, couples, and families dealing with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, blended families, and conflict. I am Gottman Trained to help couples. As an immigrant myself, and being bi-lingual, bi-cultural and understand the issues affecting immigrants.
My communication style
I am empathetic, non-judgmental and will try to empower my clients to actively participate in their journey of healing. Together we will engage in different activities, and practice strategies to achieve healing.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist later on in life, after a 30-year career in the Educational system. First as a teacher, and later as a school psychologist. I decided to return to school after going to therapy and seeing how helpful and healing the experience was. I love working with others and guiding others to identify their barriers and heal past trauma, and insecurities to be able to live a more peaceful and happier life.
My goals for you
I will engage my clients to collaborate on goal setting as much as possible to be able to feel a sense of ownership and power in their treatment. I will gauge the pace towards healing according to where the client is.
My first session with you
The first session is about history gathering, but also making sure my clients feel comfortable, heard, respected, and not judged. I will meet my clients where they are at, and create a safe space for them to be themselves.
