My name is Haley Peters, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Santa Cruz, California. I work with clients across the state via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, thought disorders, and trauma, and primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Humanistic Therapy approaches with clients.
My approach
My approach varies based on the needs of my client though I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Humanistic Therapy. My goal is to help clients identify and challenge unhealthy thoughts and behaviors while also developing coping mechanisms to manage negative emotions. I help clients shift focus to the present by utilizing mindfulness practices. I often recommend homework in between sessions to practice the skills discussed during sessions.
My focus
I have worked with a variety of clients from different demographics and have found that my approach is a good fit for adults, who are struggling to cope with symptoms of depression, anxiety, other mood disorders, thought disorders, and trauma as well as those experiencing life stressors related to work, relationships, and losses. I have worked with individuals in outpatient, inpatient, and correctional health settings.
My communication style
My communication style is open, empathic, personable, and non-judgemental. I am here to help clients heal and will meet them where they are. I want my clients to feel safe and comfortable speaking with me throughout sessions to build a strong therapeutic relationship.
