My name is Anthony "Tony" Ryland. I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist residing in Clovis, California. I provide telehealth-based services for clients throughout the State. My practice focuses on treating adult individuals experiencing a range of conditions, including anxiety disorders (panic attacks, agoraphobia, social phobia), depression, stress, and difficult life transitions. I also work with individuals who may be experiencing general relationship challenges with family, significant others, or workplace colleagues.
My approach
My approach is based on taking a holistic perspective on my clients' overall well-being. With this as a foundation, my approach is influenced by but not limited to, the Humanistic Theories along with Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy treatment approaches. My approach recognizes the growth potential of all individuals regardless of their starting point in treatment.
My focus
I have over 27 years of experience working in the field of mental health as a direct provider of psychotherapy and, more recently, in a management and supervisory role of other providers. My practice over the years has been of a general orientation working with a full range of clients and issues from depression and anxiety to clients experiencing dual disorders related to mental health and substance use conditions. My current client focus and interest lie in treating individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, post-trauma symptoms, and relationship challenges.
My communication style
I have an open, calm, and engaging communication style. I believe effective therapy begins in a safe, nonjudgmental setting where clients feel comfortable discussing anything with their providers.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist started very early in my life. Challenges I experienced in my family of origin helped reveal the interest and passion I have for helping people. This continued to grow and became a focal point of my life as a young adult. I thoroughly enjoy accompanying my clients through their journey as they grow and work through challenges.
My goals for you
I view the process of establishing goals in treatment as a collaborative effort between the client and therapist. I see my role as being a facilitator in assisting clients in determining what they want to focus on and what outcomes they would like to see as a result of their participation in therapy.
My first session with you
The first session is an opportunity for us to become familiar with each other and to develop an initial connection for beginning therapy. It also provides me an opportunity to learn more about what brings you to therapy. I will typically have questions that will help clarify important details about how you are feeling and what expectations you have.
