Welcome to my profile, and congratulations on taking a massive step toward wellness. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, working with a wide variety of clientele, including chronically mentally ill, adolescent, geriatric, and forensic populations. Since 2006, I have focused on providing individual therapy for adults facing life stressors they find hard to overcome on their own.
My approach
I believe that each individual has unique and essential strengths. My practice is richly informed by Carl Rogers' principles of genuineness and acceptance. I also rely heavily on cognitive-behavioral techniques in teaching clients to examine and challenge their thought processes.
My focus
In my private practice, I primarily see individual adults who are struggling with life stressors and challenges. Some areas I specialize in include aging, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, chronic illness, coping skills, codependency, depression, emotional disturbance, cultural stress, infertility, gender identity, grief, panic attacks, mood disorders, spirituality, and working with older adults.
My communication style
I communicate with genuineness, acceptance, and a focus on your unique strengths. My style blends empathetic listening with practical guidance drawn from cognitive-behavioral techniques. Through collaborative dialogue, we'll identify thought patterns to challenge and coping skills to develop as you navigate life's stressors with resilience.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to mental healthcare began with earning my MA in Family Marriage Therapy. I completed my clinical hours for licensure from July 2001 to February 2006 at Harbor View Adolescent Center in Long Beach, Gateways Satellite in Los Angeles, and Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk. These diverse clinical experiences with adolescent, adult, and forensic populations motivated me to continue helping others overcome challenges and achieve wellness.
My goals for you
My goal is to work together with you to identify your unique strengths, examine and reframe thought patterns that may be holding you back, and equip you with the coping skills and insights to navigate life's stressors with greater resilience and well-being. I look forward to meeting you and achieving your goals together.
