Hi there, I am Winsley! My name is Winsley Hector and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 20 years of experience empowering. I am based in Riverside, California and when I am not engaged in therapy, I am on the golf range and golfing each Friday, watching cricket, or reading about current events.
My approach
I approach therapy by setting goals for myself and my clients because I don’t believe that therapy needs to be endless to have a lasting impact. I utilize an assortment of approaches tailored to each individual to achieve optimal outcomes, including psychodynamic, narrative, cognitive behavioral, and DBT.
My focus
I utilize a unique blend of Psychological Theory, Academic Rigor, and Spiritual Insights to facilitate healing and wholeness in resolving mental illness and managing stressors. I enjoy working with adolescents, individuals, and couples to help them resolve their mental health challenges, which I view as largely unresolved, unconscious, internal conflict.
My communication style
My communication style is relaxed, embracing, honest, and nonjudgemental but challenging. I give homework assignments to ensure that the work of healing continues between sessions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am a British-ordained Seventh-day Adventist minister, whose interest in the human condition led my study of psychology, and I combined the two disciples with a Ph.D. in Spiritual Care and Counseling. I believe that this unique blend of psychological theory and spiritual insight will inspire, enrich, and challenge you to achieve peace.
My goals for you
Goal setting is an indispensable part of the initial phase of therapy as clients are provided with a sense of purpose and direction based on what they are hoping to accomplish.
My first session with you
I begin my sessions by establishing rapport with my clients, listening to their stories, and reassuring them that they will come through this period of dislocation and change.
