Ginette G. Walker, LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist). In talking with people, I go by Gina. I offer psychotherapy in English and/or Spanish via telehealth. My approach to treatment is client-centered and depends on clients’ needs and circumstances. Much of my experience is in helping clients engage in processes of post-traumatic and intergenerational growth.
My approach
My approach to therapy is cross-culturally and developmentally informed and responsive. I am currently focusing on bringing in the perspectives and tools of Positive Psychology.
My focus
I enjoy working with people of all ages. Rather than treat "a condition," I strive for attuned therapeutic responses to a whole person.
My communication style
I am an honest and respectful communicator. I strive to meet clients where they are in each session and to serve as a collaborator in their journeys toward mental and emotional wellbeing.
My journey to mental healthcare
Cultural Anthropology as an undergraduate major turns out to have been a great background for getting the larger picture, and master's and post-masters education in Counseling Psychology has helped me zoom in to listen deeply to each client’s individual needs. I have always been interested in what heals and sustains authentically, and I consider it an honor to explore that with clients.
My goals for you
Any therapeutic goals we develop need to align with clients’ values.
My first session with you
I am equally comfortable with clients who want to take the lead in our conversation and those who would prefer I be more directive in eliciting information.
