My name is Jamie Mantell, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) I have a doctorate in psychology (PsyD). I provide psychotherapy for individuals seeking help with managing day-to-day stressors, sudden life changes, crises, and trauma. I have experience working for non-profit agencies, such as foster care agencies, partial hospitalization healthcare, and outpatient mental health. I have been in practice for more than 20 years and have experience with a wide range of mental health issues. I follow an integrated approach to therapy to tailor client’s treatment according to their needs in a safe and judgment-free environment. I believe that the therapy should match the needs of the client and that it is important to meet the client where they are at in life, while also identifying where they want to be.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies with the needs of each client I may work with. I utilize modalities that are strength-based. Some practice models I use are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Humanistic Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy as these modalities help myself, and the clients I work with, build a shared understanding of their reality and allow us to work together to chart a path forward to work on the challenges of life transitions and social pressures. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills. ??to allow them to feel understood and valued and develop a more positive outlook on life.
My focus
I provide individual, couples, and family therapy, and have extensive experience assisting clients struggling with depression, anxiety, relationships, internal conflict, mood disorders, trauma, and grief and loss. My focus as a therapist is on assisting clients with issues that affect them in various aspects of life and developing a plan for working through past or current situations that are interfering with functioning more effectively so they can thrive.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and personable. I provide emphases on client empowerment, positive motivation, and self-reflection to assist in building and developing positive coping techniques to meet personal objectives.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I have always been drawn to helping people through difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves.
