Hi there, I'm John!

John Dury is an experienced professional counselor and marriage and family therapist who has been in practice for more than 25 years. John is also a Master Addiction Counselor as well as a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

My approach

John is a holistic therapist who specializes in helping people with a wide range of relationship issues, including anxiety, depression, anger, conflict resolution, substance abuse, and process addictions. He takes a direct and tailored approach to therapy, with the goal of helping each individual achieve practical benefits in their life.

My focus

I work with those experiencing a wide variety of issues that affect relationships such as anxiety, depression, anger, conflict resolution, and substance and process addictions.

My communication style

What do you want to change about how you are living your life? What are the smallest improvements that you will recognize first? First, we focus on understanding the problems from your perspective and then work collaboratively together to apply practical solutions that make sense to both you and me.

My journey to mental healthcare

The strongest people are not those who show strength in public, but those who fight and win battles that others know nothing about. It is my privilege to support others and share the message that therapy is effective and recovery is possible. This is part of my story.

My goals for you

A simple problem-solving approach includes identifying the problems, defining practical solutions together, and then applying those solutions that we agree upon.

My first session with you

Establishing a clear understanding of the problems from the client's perspective and an assessment in four areas: relationship to self, family, and friends, to God as one understands God, and a sense of mission and purpose.
