Hi there, I'm Susan!

I am an experienced therapist with expertise in a range of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, OCD, Anxiety, Depression Brief Therapy, PTSD, Trauma, Grief and Loss, DBT, and Biopsychosocial approaches. My goal is to meet you where you are now in your quest for answers and help, and to work together to identify the real issues and find effective solutions.

My approach

My therapeutic approach draws upon evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-focused interventions. I tailor my approach to each individual client, utilizing techniques such as mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and strength-based strategies to help you achieve your goals.

My focus

I specialize in working with adults and older adults who are struggling with a wide range of mental health concerns, including addiction, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, relationship issues, borderline pd, and more. Whether you are dealing with a long-standing issue or a recent challenge, I am here to provide the support and guidance you need.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I believe in creating a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and validated. I will work collaboratively with you, listening actively to your concerns and providing feedback and guidance as needed. Together, we will develop a trusting therapeutic relationship that will serve as the foundation for your growth and healing.

My journey to mental healthcare

I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from California State University, Long Beach, where I completed my clinical training from June 1991 to August 1993. My journey to mental healthcare was motivated by a deep desire to help others overcome challenges and live fulfilling lives.

My goals for you

My primary goal is to empower you with the tools, insights, and strategies you need to achieve lasting positive change. Whether you are seeking to manage symptoms, improve relationships, build self-esteem, or navigate life transitions, I will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs and goals. Together, we will work towards helping you build resilience, find inner peace, and create the life you desire.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will take the time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. I will listen carefully to your concerns, ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of your experiences, and work with you to identify your goals for treatment. We will also discuss my therapeutic approach and how we can work together to achieve your desired outcomes. This initial session is an opportunity for us to build rapport, establish trust, and lay the foundation for our work together.
