In therapy, it's often said to do what works because patients often present with unique conditions that require special thought. I draw on my diverse experience treating adults, geriatrics, young adults experiencing first-break psychosis, and dually diagnosed individuals and their families to provide thoughtful, tailored treatment.
My approach
Cognitive behavioral therapy is the foundation of my treatment as it offers the best results I've seen with the adult population I have treated in recent years. However, I also draw on my experience in a more psycho-dynamic treatment world of the past. I anticipate resistance and setbacks, believe in short-term treatment, and discourage dependence on me.
My focus
I work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, divorce, domestic violence, grief, personality disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, stress, and panic attacks.
My communication style
I aim to establish attunement whenever possible and speak the language of one's inner felt experience, one that may not have been put into words before we met. I'm a team player who encourages the use of outside resources.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey in mental healthcare has included diverse roles that helped me learn and grow, from evaluating geriatrics and first-break psychotic young adults to treating dually diagnosed individuals and their families. I also taught group therapy and treatment planning in a graduate psychology program. In 1984-85, I completed clinical hours for licensure at Del Amo Hospital, Camino del Sol in Torrance, CA.

My goal is to work collaboratively with you using proven cognitive behavioral techniques combined with insight from psychodynamic approaches to help you overcome challenges, gain new understanding, and make meaningful changes for improved well-being. I tailor treatment to your unique needs, aiming for lasting results through short-term work.
My first session with you
Ask me what you need to know so we can form a successful partnership. Then I ask you 'nosy' questions to determine what brings you here at this time, pertinent background data, whether you're at risk and what are your goals of treatment.
