My name is Charlotte Watley. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. By trade, I am a professional listener. My training has been based on Family Systems. From a Depth perspective, a psychoanalytic psychodynamic framework, we build a stronger you. Log on, sit down, and share. I will listen!!!
My approach
I have been practicing since 2010. I have worked with single parents, wedded couples, dating couples, individuals, children, and adolescents. Treatments have been for anxiety, ADHD, diversity issues, LGBTQI+, veterans, foster care, juvenile detention, academic problems, career issues, parenting for children with special needs, caring for aging parents, and coping with family members who have disorders and addictions.
My focus
I am here to be a support to you. I am a therapist who keeps your goals in mind. I feel at ease working with individuals who want to make emotional and behavioral changes that improve and stabilize their lives.
My communication style
I am light-hearted, warm, and a comedian. I promote the use of assertive communication and being direct with needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
At the end of the day, I believe it's more important to live and thrive than to be in a constant state of survival. I needed a therapist to assist me where my family, friends, and community could not be for me. I want to be that for you!!
My goals for you
I ask them directly what they would like to accomplish. Then I ask clarifying questions to confirm I understand what is being attempted. I co-create treatment goals with all clients.
My first session with you
I think it's important for the clients to know that I will go directly at what I perceive the issues are. I take the clients seriously; if they have claimed to have had therapy previously, I will treat them like experts. For those who have never had therapy, I will take a longer time to build rapport. I would hope they (new & seasoned) all would come to therapy ready to work. There will be homework assigned during the initial session.
