My journey to mental healthcare
Growing up, I was always fascinated by the complexities of the human mind. I remember being the friend who everyone turned to for advice, even as a child. Whether it was helping a classmate work through a tough situation or simply being a listening ear, I found great fulfillment in understanding and supporting others. This innate curiosity and compassion led me to pursue psychology in college, where I quickly realized that this was more than just an interest—it was my calling. During my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to volunteer at a crisis hotline. It was there that I truly saw the power of empathy and active listening in action. Each call was a reminder of the profound impact that a compassionate conversation could have on someone's life. This experience solidified my desire to become a clinical psychologist, where I could make a difference in a more direct and sustained way. After completing my degree, I pursued advanced training in clinical psychology, focusing on areas like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based practices. My journey wasn’t without challenges—there were moments of self-doubt and the inevitable stress that comes with the rigors of graduate school. But every time I sat down with a client, I was reminded of why I chose this path. One particularly memorable experience during my internship involved working with a young adult who was struggling with severe anxiety. Over the course of several months, we worked together to develop coping strategies and reframe negative thought patterns. Witnessing their transformation, from being overwhelmed by fear to confidently navigating life’s challenges, was incredibly rewarding and reaffirmed my passion for this work. Today, as a licensed clinical psychologist, I continue to be driven by the desire to help others overcome their struggles and achieve their goals. My journey to becoming a psychologist was shaped by a deep-seated belief in the power of human connection and the resilience of the human spirit. I’m grateful for every step of this journey, and I’m honored to walk alongside my clients as they embark on their own paths to healing and growth.
My goals for you
Understanding the Client's Needs: Begin with a comprehensive assessment to understand the client's current situation, challenges, and what they hope to achieve through therapy. Clarifying Values and Priorities: Explore the client's values, priorities, and long-term aspirations. This helps ensure that the goals set are meaningful and aligned with what truly matters to them.
My first session with you
In your first session, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they can begin to share their story and explore their reasons for seeking therapy. You’ll start by building rapport and understanding their background, including personal history, current challenges, and any previous experiences with therapy. This session will also involve a collaborative discussion about their goals and what they hope to achieve, setting the foundation for your work together. Your approach is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported as they embark on their therapeutic journey.
