I am Barbara Pease, LCSW. I like to use a strengths approach to therapy as it looks at each person more holistically and focuses on an amplifies the well part of each person. You will identify and use your inner strengths to rebound from difficulties.
My approach
I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because I believe many of our problems are due to faulty thinking errors that we learned from childhood. Once these thoughts are identified and corrected, we will begin thinking more positively.
My focus
I believe a strengths approach helps people identify and use their inner strengths and the strengths in their environment to rebound from difficulties and create the life they want.
My communication style
I believe everyone has the ability to learn ways to contend with stress or control symptoms. We are able to create a positive structure for our daily lives that is not centered on our psychiatric symptoms or experiences. I encourage my clients to believe this.
My journey to mental healthcare
I experienced depression most of my life. The therapist who worked with me inspired me to get my degree to be a therapist. I enrolled in college late in life, obtained my degree, and have dedicated my life to helping others.
My goals for you
The purpose of having goals is to help us select and achieve what we desire and want in our life. Goals must be associated with a strong vision. They must be clearly stated. Think about the most important goals and aspirations. These will be the ones you will want to start working to achieve right away.
My first session with you
I want to know what motivates my client and what holds us back. We need to know what motivates us and identify barriers that may block our journey.
