Hello, my name is Tiffany Martinez; a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Arizona. My approach to therapy is relaxed with a person centered approach. I work mainly with children, ages 3-18 but also have truly enjoyed supporting young adults and parents of any age through life transitions.
My approach
My approach truly aims to meet you where you are. I am typically utilizing narrative, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy with clients. If someone has parenting difficulties we will engage in reflective parenting strategies as well as others. I use these approaches to support my clients in managing anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, worry, and develop emotional awareness.
My focus
Most clients I have worked with are engaging in therapy to support their young children in learning coping strategies and age appropriate communication/self expression skills. The children I engage with typically engage in play therapy techniques with me. For the young adults and parents I work with, many come into sessions struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, building healthy relationships, development of healthy coping skills as well as healthy communication and conflict resolution skills. Many young adults and parents Ive worked with have also come in seeking ways to support themselves in managing the life transition they are experiencing
My communication style
I am a very laid back person and clients can expect a warm tone and environment from me. I do challenge clients, however but this comes after we know each other and I have gained your trust. Overall I strive to make clients feel welcomed, understand, and at ease.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist after much deliberation on how to best engage with a side of myself that loved listening to people. After going into teaching and going into other public service positions, therapy showed up at my doorstep and I never looked back. I am truly lucky to be doing something that I enjoy and that allows me to help people in such a powerful way.
My goals for you
Our goals are our guiding lights for sessions so this is something I take seriously with clients. This is what we use to help us determine if therapy is something that is supporting. I typically develop goals with clients in the first 1-2 sessions. These are goals that clients can come in with or ones that we develop together as we engage in the first sessions.
My first session with you
Our first session, clients can expect a warm and friendly face, eager to engage with them. You can expect me to ask questions about why you are seeking therapy. I will provide you time to share and explain difficulties and things that are going on. Much of it is spent understanding if we are indeed a good fit for each other.
