Hi, I am Amanda Copeland, LICSW, LCSW. I utilize a person-centered approach to therapy. My focus area of practice is mental health and well-being.
My approach
I provide a person-centered approach to therapy. I utilize CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused models.
My focus
I typically work with adults, couples, and families. I have extensive experience in treating mental illness, substance abuse, trauma, and grief.
My communication style
I like to meet clients where they are at. I always tell my clients that they are in the driver's seat. I am in the passenger seat, providing direction and support to help them get where they are trying to go.
My journey to mental healthcare
I found my love for Social Work later in life. I was a middle school and high school English teacher and found that I loved working with my students and helping them with their struggles. This motivated me to go back to school and get my Master's in Social Work. I have worked extensively in community mental health, with homeless individuals, veterans, and a multitude of other populations. I still currently work in the field with these populations along with providing therapy. I absolutely love what I do!
My goals for you
I provide empathetic listening and assist clients with identifying what goals they would like to work on. I then educate my clients and provide tools that they can utilize to start working on their goals. I provide support and feedback throughout our sessions. Goals are client-driven and flexible based on client's needs.
My first session with you
The first session will be the intake session. I will ask questions and listen to your story. I will provide feedback and assist you in identifying the goals that you would like to work on. We will then develop a treatment plan to start working towards those goals. We will discuss how often you would like to meet and schedule your next session. I will answer any questions that you may have.
