Hello, my name is Anita Perry and I am a LICSW. My approach to therapy is client-centered and integrative, incorporating elements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based Therapy, and mindfulness practices
My approach
I employ a holistic and integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic principles, and mindfulness techniques. My focus is on creating a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard and understood. I aim to help clients gain insight into their patterns of thought and behavior, build coping skills, and work towards achieving their personal goals.
My focus
My primary focus areas include anxiety and depression, relationship issues, stress management, and personal growth. I also work with clients dealing with trauma, life transitions, and self-esteem issues. By tailoring my approach to each individual's needs, I strive to facilitate meaningful change and promote overall well-being.
My communication style
In my therapy sessions, I strive to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. My goal is to make clients feel safe and valued, which allows them to openly explore their thoughts and emotions. Working with me often feels like engaging in a collaborative process where your concerns and experiences are acknowledged and respected. I focus on fostering trust and empathy, ensuring that each session is a space where you can feel comfortable and empowered to work towards your goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was drawn to a career as a therapist by a deep interest in understanding human behavior and a desire to help people navigate their challenges and achieve personal growth. Witnessing the positive impact that therapy can have on individuals’ lives—whether it's improving their mental health, resolving interpersonal issues, or finding a sense of purpose—fuels my passion for this work. I am motivated by the opportunity to support people through their journeys, facilitate meaningful change, and contribute to their overall well-being.
My goals for you
In my approach to goal setting, I prioritize collaboration and clarity. I work with clients to identify their goals by exploring their values, priorities, and desired outcomes. Together, we set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals to ensure they are both realistic and motivating. I also emphasize flexibility, allowing for adjustments as needed based on progress and changing circumstances. Regularly reviewing and reflecting on these goals helps to maintain focus and adapt strategies to ensure continued growth and success.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients can expect an initial assessment where we'll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your background, and any specific concerns or goals you have. This is a time for us to get to know each other and for you to share your experiences and expectations. I will also explain my approach to therapy, discuss confidentiality, and answer any questions you might have. The session aims to establish a foundation of trust and collaboratively outline how we can work together towards your goals.
