Hello, my name is Aisha Cooper, licensed professional counselor #4662. My approach to therapy and focus areas center around Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I feel this approach works best in challenging our thoughts in order to create the change that we need in our behaviors.
My approach
My approach to providing therapy almost always starts by using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and then my follow-up approaches are solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic/psychoanalysis, and humanistic approaches.
My focus
I work with a wide range of clients: children/adolescents, adults, geriatrics, LGBTQ, and Veterans. With these populations, I treat various conditions: ADHD, depression, anxiety, ptsd, trauma, grief, and adjustment. I have also worked with clients with personality disorders.
My communication style
The environment I create for my clients is to be assertive. I want my clients to feel like their feelings and emotions are validated and their words are heard.
My journey to mental healthcare
I came into this career as being the one among family and friends who had always kept a level head and was able to guide others in making the best decisions. My passion for helping others obtain the maximum level of functioning drives me to do this work.
My goals for you
I like to get to know my clients and build rapport; and find out about their likes and dislikes in approaching goal setting.
My first session with you
First session always involves rapport building and getting a good synopsis of the presentation of symptoms.
