My name is Deirdre Crochen Rose, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama with over 20 years of experience in mental health. I offer a compassionate and supportive environment where clients can openly express their struggles. My approach empowers individuals to take control of their lives, guiding them to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. I am committed to helping clients navigate their circumstances with confidence, fostering a sense of self-awareness and resilience. Through my work, I strive to provide the tools and guidance needed for lasting positive change.
My approach
I often use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. CBT helps clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors. I also integrate elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotion regulation and distress tolerance, particularly in cases involving trauma or personality disorders. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is used to help clients focus on immediate goals and practical steps toward change. Lastly, I adopt a trauma-informed approach, ensuring that therapy is sensitive to the impact of trauma and creates a safe, supportive environment for healing.
My focus
My expertise covers a broad spectrum of therapeutic modalities. This includes individual, group, and family therapy, each tailored to meet their specific needs. I have extensive experience working with individuals navigating Addiction, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Personality Disorders, Grief, and Trauma. My expertise also extends to Impulse control; and Emotional Regulation issues.
My communication style
Navigating life’s transitions can be challenging and overwhelming, often leading to feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. I offer a compassionate and supportive environment where clients can openly express their need for help and begin to take control of their circumstances. By working together, I help individuals build the tools and skills needed to make meaningful, lasting changes. Through a collaborative approach, we address obstacles and develop strategies that empower clients to manage their transitions effectively and improve their overall well-being.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was inspired to pursue a career as a therapist because of my passion for helping others through life’s challenges. From a young age, I found purpose in listening to people and offering support, which grew into a desire to make a positive impact more profoundly. I’ve always been fascinated by the complexities of the human mind and how we can overcome adversity. The idea of helping individuals heal, grow, and reclaim their strength deeply resonated with me. Becoming a therapist allows me to guide others through difficult times and also witness their resilience and transformation.
My goals for you
Effective goal setting is a cornerstone of mental health therapy, providing clients with a clear roadmap for personal growth and progress. When working with clients, I emphasize the importance of creating realistic, attainable goals that align with their values and unique circumstances. This collaborative process fosters a sense of ownership and empowerment, allowing clients to take active steps toward their well-being.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients can expect a warm, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where they feel welcome. My goal is to establish rapport and create a safe space for open dialogue. I encourage clients to share their reasons for seeking therapy, current challenges, and any relevant background information. Together, we will explore their needs, concerns, and goals to guide the therapeutic process. I also take time to explain my approach to therapy, ensuring clients understand how we will work together. Additionally, I discuss confidentiality and address any questions or concerns to ensure a comfortable start to the journey.
