Hi, I am Veronica Harper, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama. My approach to counseling includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and at some point, I may use the eclectic approach. My areas of focus include anger management, depression, anxiety, grief, stress, and self-esteem.
My approach
I like to meet clients where they are, which sometimes means that I will use an eclectic approach. My specialty approach is the Cognitive Behavior Approach, I believe that our thoughts, and beliefs affect our feelings and behavior (actions). My approach is to establish a trusting relationship between client and therapist. This is necessary to create a welcoming environment for the client to be able to disclose and express their feelings.
My focus
I have experience in working with all populations from ages 2-65 including males, females, male inmates, gender dysphoria, adolescents, couples, and individuals. I have treated clients with suicidal ideations but I'm most comfortable with depression and anxiety.
My communication style
I try to create a warm and genuine environment by being a good listener, being objective, and providing feedback when needed. Working with me will be challenging, interesting, progressive, and affective therapy.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a counselor because I like empowering others and assisting them in exploring their feelings. I am interested in an individual's well-being toward personal growth and ensuring that they have a quality of life. I want clients to feel good about admitting that they are not ok, and help is needed.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting by exploring to find out what it is that the client wants to work on or through, what they believe is the issue or problem.
My first session with you
During the first session, will consist of building rapport with the client and setting expectations. the first session will be more of an intake session discussing the issues or why the client is seeking therapy.
