Hi there, I'm Chelsea!

My name is Dr. Chelsea Taylor, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama. I work with all ages up to 99+. I have extensive experience with assisting individuals with life changes, grief/ loss, and relationship issues. I specialize in child/adolescent behaviors and disorders such as ADHD, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, stress, and adjustment utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My goal is to help clients thrive despite life’s challenges.

My approach

My therapeutic approach varies depending on the needs of the client. I typically utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. While building rapport, these modalities allow us to recognize/identify behaviors and learn skills for behavior change.

My focus

My style of therapy usually fits well with teens, young adults, as well as adults who are dealing with the many issues that life may bring. Believing that you are the author of your story, my goal is to assist you in overcoming challenges with skills that are derived from strengths you already possess. As you are faced with difficult transitions, let's navigate them together on our way to a better you.

My communication style

My communication style is calm, regulating, attentive, and personable. I strive to create a safe, stress-free environment that will provide comfort and support without any judgment or bias.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have had a passion for helping people for as long as I can remember. I have also worked with children, and adolescents in various capacities that have allowed me to mentor and become a sounding board for them. The ability to be there for others in their time of need has always come second nature to me and I felt it wise to integrate this innate skill into a career. I enjoy celebrating clients as they overcome barriers. It is a true joy to see clients progress and improve.

My goals for you

My approach for goal setting is to gather what the client would like to work on during our time together. I am here to support your needs and what you feel is best for your life. As we build trust and rapport with each other, we will set goals based off of your needs and track progress.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will spend time talking about what brought you to therapy. We will discuss how you’ve been feeling regarding the issues you may bring. This session is also for you to be able to determine if I am the right fit for you as a client. I like to compare finding a therapist to buying a new pair of shoes. The first session will allow you to see if we will be a ‘great fit”; if so, (like new shoes) I am here to support you on your journey to a better you!
