My name is Letecia Griffin, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) located in Alabama, offering services to clients throughout the state via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults, specializing in anxiety, stress, ADHD, and depression. I prefer an eclectic approach utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support my clients in making progress and improving their well-being.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I frequently incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems. My goal is to help you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors, as well as understand and heal the conflicting inner voices and emotions that can drive these negative behaviors and feelings. Together, we can chart a path forward, living each day more mindfully and fostering a deeper understanding and acceptance of yourself.
My focus
I've discovered that my approach resonates well with teens and adults facing social pressures and life transitions. These issues are often compounded by challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, and ADHD. I focus on helping clients navigate these transitions and develop skills to improve self-esteem and cultivate a more positive perspective on life. Additionally, I tailor my strategies to accommodate the unique needs of individuals with ADHD, providing tools for organization, time management, and coping with distractibility to support their overall well-being.
My communication style
In the therapy room, my communication style emphasizes calmness, curiosity, connectedness, compassion, and playfulness. My clients need a therapist to listen without feeling judged and I bring this to each session; I want all parts of my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist has been driven by a deep-seated passion for helping others. My very first job was at a residential treatment facility for at-risk youth as a mentor. The pervasive question entering my mind was, "Am I doing this right?" It was this desire to help that motivated me to formal education in psychology and counseling, where I gained theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Throughout my training, I had the privilege of working with diverse populations, which broadened my perspective and honed my ability to empathize with clients from all walks of life. I can honestly say that I am continually inspired by the resilience and strength of my clients, and I am committed to supporting them on their paths to well-being and self-discovery.
My goals for you
Goal setting to me is all about empowering you as the client. I adopt a collaborative and individualized approach. First, I listen carefully to understand the client's unique needs, aspirations, and challenges. Together, we identify specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals that align with their values and desired outcomes. I ensure that the goals are realistic and achievable, providing guidance and support throughout the process. We regularly review and adjust these goals as needed to ensure they remain relevant and continue to support the client's progress and well-being.
My first session with you
In our initial session, you can expect that I will spend time getting to know you and your concerns. We will explore how you have been feeling lately and anything relevant that you feel will help me to understand you better. Recognizing that each person is unique, I prioritize listening first before assuming I know what will work best for you.
